    What are the best exercises to lose weight? Well, I think that depends on you and what you like to do. The best way to lose weight is to find the things you like to do and then do them as often as possible. Consistency is key.

You will need to talk to your doctor to find out what he recommends specifically for you, especially if you have any underlying health issues.  I personally my physician for food plan and I consult my chiropractor because I’m having issues with neck and back and even my feet.

    After you’ve had a heart-to-heart with your doctor, you can then begin with your new workout plan. No matter how great your exercises to lose weight are, you will still need to eat the right kinds of food in the right amount.

    Losing weight will be about more than just one element. To really get the most out of your weight loss efforts and to keep your body healthy you will need to eat right and get more exercise. Simple as that.

    Ideally, you will want to combine two types of exercise: cardiovascular and resistance.

    Both forms of exercise will allow you to get in better shape but you really want to do both.

    Cardiovascular exercise will help you increase your heart and lung capacity as well as strengthen those muscles. Doing cardio on a regular basis can also allow you to lower your blood pressure and possibly reduce your risk of stroke and heart attack.

    Resistance training will help your body in other ways. For one thing, if it’s done properly, there can be a cardio component to weight training too. If you do each rep slowly and smoothly you can increase your heart rate somewhat.

    But, the biggest benefit of doing resistance training is that you can build up your lean muscle mass. Now, you must listen to this because it’s important, building lean muscle mass and “bulking up” are two totally different things.

    Unless you are a man, a genetic anomaly, or you take drugs you won’t bulk up “accidentally”. But what you can do by adding more lean muscle is allowed your metabolism to burn hotter all day every day and that can result in more weight loss no matter where you are or what you are doing.

    Having some lean muscle mass will also help you appear slimmer since the muscle will kind of “cinch” in your waist. It sort of acts like an all-over girdle.

    Adding a solid diet full of lean protein and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, drinking plenty of water, getting plenty of sleep, and doing your workout is the best way to get a great body more quickly.

    Finding the best exercises to lose weight depends on a variety of factors and it is up to you to figure them out. I live in Hawaii, near the beach, and with a gorgeous tropical climate most of the year.

    There are some challenges. I can’t swim in the ocean year around because of ocean conditions, brown water issues after rain. I can’t always ride my bike on the roadways due to road conditions and type of roads (think narrow country roads with no shoulder).

    Believe it or not, I actually have a bike trainer for rainy days. I have a rain jacket in my car for rain on my walks. Sadly though, I’m having foot problems so I have to find ways to exercise without being on my feet due to pain.

Balance means eating the right amount of nutritious food. In our fast food, take-out world, it is easy to get the quantities wrong and also miss out on the quality of food as well.     Getting back to the basics is important. Instead of snacking constantly during the day, do your best to eat three regular meals. The French prepare balanced meals and still manage to eat together more often than their counterparts in the USA.  It’s more about enjoying the company over good, healthy meals, than eating to just eat. 

    Sit down with your family and friends and enjoy nice, leisurely meals together. If you are troubled by food cravings during the day, eat a few pieces of fruit rather than a donut or any other fattening food. It’s a matter of making better choices. 

    While there are many fad diets (low fat, low-carb, etc.) being promoted today, it is far better for your weight and your health if you can settle into a eating plan and lifestyle that you can easily, and happily, follow for the rest of your life.

    Did you know that the traditional diet of yoga practitioners has been a vegetarian diet?  Perhaps there is a connection here.  The yoga diet consists of fruits, vegetables, and grains, and maybe some dairy.  You can not only survive on such a diet, but you will thrive as well, and perhaps lose weight all at the same time.

    Start Slow: Substitute meat dishes with soy products, lentils, and other legumes, and whole grains. You can get enough protein (especially if you also consume nuts and milk products) so you don’t have to worry about it.

    You can also enjoy yourself in the process. Instead of an ice cream thick shake, blend together fruits, juice, and yogurt and make a healthy smoothie. Losing weight does not require you to suffer; it is only a question of choosing your food well and balancing your lifestyle.

    If you want to lose weight on a long term basis you have to change your diet or your pattern of exercise or both. Try out a balanced vegetarian diet and if you find it helpful, then stick with it for the rest of your life. You may discover you really like it.

    Whether you’re in a grocery store, a restaurant or just watching the commercials on TV during your favorite show, you are bombarded with ads and special menus singing the praises of the virtues of the low carb diet. This low carb craze has virtually swept the western world and has dieters everywhere seeking out low carb this and low carb that with many reporting weight loss as a result!!!

    This is great news, right? Finally, an easy diet plan that makes you lose weight and you can eat lots of food as long as they have almost no carbs in them!!! But have we really struck gold, or have we simply struck fools gold? Is the idea of eating a low carb diet for weight loss really a good idea or are there any side effects that may come with these diets that adversely affect our health?

    Consider this, many people want something for nothing, and this way of thinking also applies to those looking to lose weight but unfortunately, there is no miracle substitute to good sound nutritional practices. Our society is one that values quick fixes which is why the low carb diet plan is a perfect fit for this society’s way of thinking. This is what makes it so appealing.

    It is true that a large amount of weight will be lost as glycogen (stored carbohydrate) depletes in the muscles and liver, but this weight is from water, not fat loss which is not good for body composition or overall health. It is also true that the body will rely on free fatty acids for fuel when muscle glycogen is depleted, but the body will rely much more on amino acids (protein) from the breakdown of lean (muscle) tissue as well so while you may burn fat, you will also burn more muscle as well and remember, your heart is also a muscle! In addition to this, those on a carb-restricted diet have lower energy levels and shorter time to fatigue during physical activity which means any activity will likely be in shorter durations.

    The fact is you need carbohydrates for your brain, heart, and muscles as well as other vital organs. The main fuel of the brain and central nervous system is glucose, which is obtained most easily from carbohydrates. If carbohydrates remain unavailable for several days the body tries to conserve protein by producing an alternate fuel source known as ketones from the partial burning of fatty acids. As this breakdown continues, these ketones build in the blood causing a condition known as ketosis. Initial weight loss is not from fat but from water from the kidneys trying to rid the body of excess ketones.

    Low carb diets make the blood more acidic, causing potentially serious and unwanted side effects like headaches, bad breath, dizziness, fatigue, and nausea. Also when carbohydrate stores are depleted in the body, the rate at which fat is metabolized is reduced meaning that carbohydrates are necessary for the ability to metabolize fat effectively. And keep this in mind, carbohydrates do not make you fat, calories, in general, make you fat so the most effective weight loss plan is simply to adjust your calorie intake to be in the right range for your own individual needs with the proper balance of nutrients.

    The fact is, just because you seem to notice a loss of overall body weight in the initial stages of a low carb diet doesn’t mean it is a good solid safe means of going about embarking on a weight loss venture. There is no substitute and there will never be a good substitute to a good sound nutritional plan coupled with a moderate exercise plan and making that plan a lifetime venture.

    The phrase “gluten-free diet” is often confused with other diets like th Keto diet, paleo diet or even the Atkins diet. As with most diets, people are expecting a gluten-free diet to result in weight loss.

    In this case, the truth is, a gluten-free (GF) diet is more of a special diet for health reasons rather than focusing on weight loss or a fitness goal. I know I personally didn’t go looking to try to the GF diet to just lose weight, I turned to it because my health was suffering.

    Those of us who make a decision to get on a gluten-free diet are basically unable to digest the gluten that’s found in wheat and some grains.


    Because of this, we encounter a variety of health problems such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, skin problems(like rash and hives), headaches and much more.

    One of the only way to prevent, avoid, and improve these problems is to get on a diet that excludes all foods that contain gluten. For me, the food sensitivity is actually “wheat” but it’s easier to follow gluten-free to be safe.

    If you are looking to lose weight, weight loss is more dependent on restricting calorie consumption than it is about gluten consumption. You also need to expend more calories daily than you consume to achieve fat loss.

    When you begin reducing calories in your diet, your body will begin to tap into the fat stores on your body for fuel and then begin to burn off excess fat. Simply put, without a calorie deficit, there cannot be fat loss.

    So, even if you’re on a gluten-free diet but not watching or reducing calories you take in in relation to calories you expend, you will not see any weight loss.

    Unless you are eating tons of bread, pasta and other things daily, getting on a gluten-free diet when you’re not gluten sensitive could be a pointless endeavor.

    This diet is not easy. If you have a gluten sensitivity or wheat, you just can not eat a lot of food that is typically purchased outside the home, served in restaurants, etc. Every day foods like bread, sweets, processed meats, fast foods, ketchup etc. contain gluten and are foods you must avoid. Try going around for a week and avoiding all the things that contain gluten (or in my case wheat). You won’t be able to eat like everyone else around you.

    Honestly, if you don’t have gluten or wheat sensitivities, you are better off sticking to a less stringent diet. A keto diet or paleo diet will be much more practical and appealing to you. You’ll be able to get all the nutrients you need without having to worry about whether gluten is present in the food.

    Let’s get real, weight loss is hard enough without making it even more difficult trying to severely restrict what you can eat on your diet.

    Now, that being said, if you’re actually gluten or wheat sensitive or intolerant, you can potentially lose weight on a gluten-free diet… but it still really comes down to your calories and not the actual food you’re consuming.

    The point it, you are making a tough decision to go gluten-free to avoid the negative reactions to your body and your overall health. You’re not doing it for weight loss.

    Once you know your numbers, you simple need to stick to them, and you’ll eventually see weight loss. To change the progress of your weight loss, adjust your numbers every week until your are satisfied.

    It also goes without saying that exercise is great for boosting your metabolism and accelerating weight loss efforts through dieting. You’ll even burn more calories while at rest and reach your goal weight even sooner.

    One tool that I like to use to help me log calories is MyFitnessPal. This is a great way to stay on track with what you eat and what you drink, and even allows you to log exercise.

    Always remember that your main goal for being gluten-free is to avoid getting sick, improved health or and to avoid the harsh effects of gluten when your body rejects it. Weight loss while a worthy goal is secondary here.

    First Things First
    Get your gluten sensitivity issue under control first by eliminating all gluten from your diet. This is a HUGE task and will require constant effort and vigilance in the beginning. You need to check ALL labels and get rid of anything that has potential of causing you problems. So, focus on it first.

    Once you get this taken care of, and your body begins to adapt to the gluten-free diet, you can start watching the calories and working to reduce your weight.

    In this way, you’ll be focusing on one task at a time and achieving your goals faster and much more easily without stressing yourself out.
